Own a Cow !

Own a Cow !

  • Get the maximum out of your farm plot.
  • Own a cow and a few goats at Paalaar Urban Farms.
  • Get milk and money for yourself, and manure for your trees and crops.
  • Avoid milk and milk products from unknown sources.
  • Get safe and healthy milk, paneer, butter, and ghee from your own cow.

We offer you a simple, hands-free way to connect deeply with your food and your farm—by helping you buy, own, and maintain a cow right on your plot.

How It Works – 7 Simple Steps:

  1. Buy a Cow – We help you choose a good cow and bring it to your farm.
  2. Daily Care – We take care of grazing, feeding, and milking the cow for you.
  3. Milk Storage – All the milk your cow yields is safely stored in your personal refrigerator at the farm.

  4. Take It Home – Every time you visit your farm, take home the milk as fresh milk, paneer, butter, or ghee.
  5. Use the Manure – Your cow’s urine and dung go back into the soil—nourishing your trees, crops, and garden.
  6. Enjoy Organic Returns – Your farm will thank you—with organic fruits, vegetables, and grains.
  7. Celebrate with Your Cow – Make Maattu Pongal truly special—celebrate it on your farm with your cow by your side.

Kindly review our FAQ section for a comprehensive understanding of the Your cow – Our farm initiative.

A1. You acquire a cow and place it under the care of our farm. We will supply 365 liters of pure and unadulterated milk annually to your home. The additional milk produced by your cow will be sold, and the generated income will cover the costs of cow maintenance, milk packaging, and delivery. The ownership of cow dung and cow urine will remain with us. The calves given birth by your cow will belong to you.

A2. You have two options to choose from: 1. Kankrej (Indian breed), and, 2. Cross-breed.

A3. A cow’s price is largely determined by its age, breed and milk-yielding capacity. A reasonably productive cross-breed cow typically ranges from Rs 45,000/- to Rs 60,000/-. Opting for a native breed Kankrej cow would entail a cost between Rs 75,000/- to Rs 90,000/-.

A4. There are five instances where you may encounter additional costs:

  1. Pooja expenses during the Pongal festival.
  2. Insurance premium if you opt for an insurance protection.
  3. Calf maintenance expenses once the calves exceed 8 months of age.
  4. Routine veterinary care will be covered by the farm. However, any significant veterinary expenses during emergencies or exigencies will be the responsibility of the cow owner.
  5. There are no additional expenses if you select the crossbreed cow, but there will be a monthly charge of Rs 4000/- if you opt for the A2 milk-producing Kankrej breed.

A5. No, we do not engage in the sale of cows. You are free to acquire your cow through your own connections. However, if you require assistance in finding a cow, we can suggest a few brokers or middlemen who can assist you in purchasing a suitable cow. Additionally, female calves from some of our existing customers become available periodically, and you have the option to purchase a young female calf from them as well.

A6. We anticipate that your cow remains healthy and productive for this arrangement to remain economically feasible. In the event that your cow’s productivity declines due to age or any other reason, you have the option to either sell/gift it to a farmer or donate it to a Goshala or temple. Please note that slaughtering a cow is illegal in Tamil Nadu, so gifting or donating it is the only permissible means to relinquish ownership of your cow.

A7. Of course. It is your cow and you are welcome to visit the farm whenever it is convenient for you.

A8. Even though your cow is being cared for on our farm, we recognize that it is still considered a part of your family. Please feel free to celebrate and involve it in special occasions whenever the occasion demands.
